About

In my drawing, sculpture and multi-media installation work I investigate power relations between culture and nature and experiment with the process of making art as commentary..

I move restlessly between diverse processes and materials, and also between the private, public and community sphere. My work as an arts educator has taught me that art is a lifelong pursuit and a rich form of communication.

Since moving to Canberra in 1990 I have done a Master of Arts in Sculpture at The ANU School of Arts, exhibited installation works, coordinated large-scale community arts projects and received commissions for public artworks, including the ACT Bushfire Memorial and the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre.

From the age of 12 I illustrated books and designed book covers, later worked as a graphic designer on magazines, and painted portrait commissions. I initially trained in Arts-Law at the University of Sydney. After studying Visual Arts at East Sydney Technical College and the City Art Institute, I exhibited broadly.

Working with other artists, I helped found the Art Bulletin and the First Draft Gallery and was a spokesperson for artists’ rights and gallery-artist contracts.

I have been an arts educator at numerous tertiary institutions in Sydney and Canberra and now work at the National Gallery of Australia.

My art is held by a number of public collections, including the National Gallery.
