Exposition 1985 was a repeated series of self-portraits where the glimpse of the studio in the background hinted at a psychological space within which the intense interrogations took place. These works were shown at Artspace Sydney 1986, then Penrith Regional Gallery as part of the Sixth Sydney Biennale 1986, before being purchased by the University of Western Sydney. The paintings were a key element in a film Portrayal (1988-9), made for Affirmative Action for Women in the Visual Arts of the Artworkers Union in Sydney about the invisibility of women’s art, in which I acted the central character.

Materials: paper, acrylic paint.
