Jamison Shops, 2003. For a temporary renovation of the Jamison Shops, Tony Steel and Tess Horwitz researched the colourful history of Thomas Jamison who was a surgeon on the First Fleet and carried out the first smallpox vaccinations of children in Australia. Referencing this history, Steel and Horwitz designed and created stainless steel wings for above one of the entrances to the Centre symbolising the winged staff of the containing historical text and imagery, and balustrades around the Shops were decorated with twisted metal and coloured glass inserts. Later renovations removed the screens.

Materials: stainless steel rod, steel bars, glass, perforated steel sheet.
